Requirements

VxRail satellite nodes are based on the existing VxRail E660F and VxRail V670F models with the same hardware options. These hardware options enable configurations from a lightweight, single-socket hybrid E-Series to a GPU accelerated V670 heavyweight. VxRail satellite nodes come with Dell PERC H755 to provide local RAID protection.

Licensing

Following are the various licenses inclusions and exclusions with satellite nodes:

  • Satellite nodes do not have a VMware vCenter Server or VMware vSAN license.
  • VMware vCenter Server: Uses same VMware vCenter Server as management cluster. The management cluster must have a VMware vCenter Server license.
  • Remote key management provides the following benefits:
    • Requires additional iDRAC licensing.
    • Provides stronger protection in case of theft.
    • Offers a more efficient scale-out solution.
