Dell VxRail Architecture Overview

PDF

VMware vSAN Cross-Cluster Capacity Sharing requirements

VMware vSAN storage that is shared in a VMware vSAN Cross-Cluster Capacity Sharing must use the same architecture for all the participating VxRail clusters. You cannot mix VMware vSAN data store types in a VMware vSAN Cross-Cluster Capacity Sharing.

For VxRail clusters running 8.0.100 or later, support is extended to VxRail vSAN stretched clusters. The following restrictions apply for VMware vSAN Cross-Cluster Capacity Sharing supporting stretched clusters:

  • VxRail 8.0.100 supports VMware vSAN ESA with VMware vSAN Cross-Cluster Capacity Sharing for a nonstretched cluster. VxRail 8.0.200 supports VMware vSAN ESA with VMware vSAN Cross-Cluster Capacity Sharing for stretched clusters.
  • A VxRail vSAN stretched cluster can be either a server or a client in a VMware vSAN Cross-Cluster Capacity Sharing.
