Dell VxRail Architecture Overview
Requirements
VxRail satellite nodes are based on the existing VxRail E660F, VxRail V670F, VE-660, VP-760, VD-4510c, and VD-4520c models with the same hardware options enabling configurations from a lightweight, single-socket hybrid E-Series to a GPU-accelerated V670 heavyweight. All VxRail satellite nodes have Dell PERC H755 to provide local RAID protection, except VxRail VD-4000.
Licensing
VxRail satellite nodes require additional iDRAC licensing. Following are the various license inclusions and exclusions with satellite nodes:
- Satellite nodes do not use a VMware vCenter Server or VMware vSAN license.
- VMware vCenter Server: Uses same VMware vCenter Server as management cluster. The management cluster must have a VMware vCenter Server license.
- Remote key management enhances protection against theft, and offers a more efficient scale-out solution.
