Adding the Storage Data Replicator to a PowerFlex appliance

Use this task to add the SDR to the PowerFlex appliance.

Prerequisites

The IP address of the node must be configured for SDR. The SDR communicates with several components:
  • SDC (application)
  • SDS (storage)
  • Remote SDR (external)

Steps

  1. In the left pane, click Protection > SDRs.
  2. In the right pane, click Add.
  3. In the Add SDR dialog box, enter the connection information of the SDR:
    1. Enter the SDR name.
    2. Update the SDR Port, if required (default is 11088).
    3. Select the relevant Protected Domain.
    4. Enter the IP Address of the MDM that is configured for SDR.
    5. Select Role External for the SDR to SDR external communication.
    6. Select Role Application and Storage for the SDR to SDC and SDR to SDS communication.
    7. Click ADD SDR to initiate a connection with the peer system.
  4. Verify that the operation completed successfully and click Dismiss.
  5. Modify the IP address role if required:
    1. From the PowerFlex GUI, in the left pane, click Protection > SDRs.
    2. In the right pane, select the relevant SDR check box, and click Modify > Modify IP Role.
    3. In the <SDR name> Modify IPs Role dialog box, select the relevant role for the IP address.
    4. Click Apply.
    5. Verify that the operation completed successfully and click Dismiss.
  6. Repeat both tasks Adding journal capacity and Adding Storage Data Replicator (SDR) to PowerFlex system for source and destination PowerFlex appliances.
