Update the network configuration

Use this task to update the network configuration file for all the network interfaces.

Steps

  1. Log in to SDS (SVMs) using PuTTY.
  2. Make a note of MAC addresses of all the interfaces, using: #ifconfig or #ip a.

  3. Edit all the interface configuration files (ifcfg-eth0, ifcfg-eth1, ifcfg-eth2, ifcfg-eth3, ifcfg-eth4) and update the NAME, DEVICE and HWADDR to ensure correct MAC address and NAME are assigned.
    NOTE:Ignore the entries with correct values.
    • Use the vi editor to update the file # vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethX
    or
    • Append the line using the following command:
      # echo NAME=ethX >> /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethX
      # echo HWADDR=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx >> /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethX
    Example file:
    BOOTPROTO=none
    ONBOOT=yes
    HOTPLUG=yes
    TYPE=Ethernet
    DEVICE=eth2
    IPADDR=192.168.155.46 
    NETMASK=255.255.254.0 
    DEFROUTE=no
    MTU=9000
    PEERDNS=no
    NM_CONTROLLED=no
    NAME=eth2
    HWADDR=00:50:56:80:fd:82
