Restore VMware vCenter Server

Perform this procedure to deploy the VMware vCenter Server Appliance on the PowerFlex R660 controller node planned for vCenter deployment.

1. Mount the ISO and open the VMware vCSA 7.x or 8.x installer from \vcsa-ui-installer\win32\installer.exe.
2. Select Restore from the VMware vCSA 7.x or 8.x installer.
3. Click Next in Stage 1: Deploy vCenter Server wizard.
4. Accept the End User License Agreement and click Next.
5. Enter the backup details:
   • Location: The following protocols are supported: FTP, FTPS, HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, NFS, or SMB
   • ex. ftp://<server_IP_address>/tmp/vCenter/hostname_vcenter.com/<backup_filename>
   • Username: Enter the user name of a user with read privileges on the backup server
   • Password: Enter the password of the user with read privileges on the backup server
6. Click Next.
7. Review Backup Details and click Next.
8. Type the host FQDN of the PowerFlex management controller:
   1. Provide all the log in credentials.
   2. Click Next > Yes.
9. Accept the certificate warning.
10. Select the deployment size to large and leave storage as default. Click Next.
11. In the Select Datastore page, select the Datastore location.
12. Select Enable Thin Disk Mode.
13. Click Next.
14. Verify the network settings populated from the backup file of the vCenter Server.
15. Click Next.
16. Review the summary and click Finish.
17. Wait for the OVA deployment to finish.
18. Copy data from the source appliance to the VMware vCenter Server Appliance:
    1. Click Continue and click Next on the Introduction page.
    2. Review the backup details and click Next.
    3. Enter single sign-on username and password and click Validate and Recover > Next.
    4. On the Ready to complete page, review the details, and click Finish > OK.
    5. After the restore finishes, click Close.
