Configure the newly added network interface controllers for SVMs

Use this procedure to configure the newly added network interface controllers for the SVMs.

Steps

  1. Log in to VMware vCenter using VMware vSphere client.
  2. Select the SVM, right-click Power > Power on.
  3. Log in to SVM using PuTTY.
  4. Create rep1 network interface, type: cp /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth5.
  5. Create rep2 network interface, type: cp etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth6.
  6. Edit newly created configuration files (ifcfg-eth5, ifcfg-eth6) using the vi editor and modify the entry for IPADDR, NETMASK, GATEWAY, DEFROUTE, DEVICE, NAME and HWADDR, where:
    • DEVICE is the newly created device of eth5 and eth6
    • IPADDR is the IP address of the rep1 and rep2 networks
    • NETMASK is the subnet mask
    • GATEWAY is the gateway for the SDR external communication
    • DEFROUTE change to no
    • NAME is the newly created device name for eth5 and eth6
    • HWADDR is the MAC address collected from the topic Add virtual NICs to SVMs
NOTE:Ensure that the MTU value is set to 9000 for SDR interfaces on both primary and secondary site and also end to end devices. Confirm with the customer or see the Enterprise Project Services (EPS) about their existing MTU values and configure it.
