Rename VMFS Datastore for PowerStore

Use the procedure in this topic to rename VMFS datastore for PowerStore storage system.

Prerequisites

  • You cannot Rename and Synchronize datastore when datastore is in replication.
  • You cannot Rename and Synchronize datastore when datastore is in metro
  • You cannot Rename and Synchronize a datastore when datastore is in replication or metro at any state on destination array
  • You can Rename and Synchronize a datastore when datastore is in replication or metro and in Paused/Ended state and not on destination array.

Steps

  1. Log in to the VMware vSphere Client.
  2. Click Menu > Storage.
  3. Select the VMFS datastore that you want to rename, click Configure > Dell VSI > Storage.
    The storage details for the VMFS datastore are displayed in the Storage Details tab.
  4. In the General panel, click RENAME DATASTORE button.
    The Rename Datastore dialog box is displayed.
  5. Enter the new name for VMFS datastore and click RENAME.
    The VMFS datastore name is successfully renamed in the vCenter.
    NOTE The backing volume on the PowerStore is renamed and includes VMFS as a prefix.
