Monitoring Capacity for PowerStore Cluster

Use the procedure in this topic to monitor the capacity metric for PowerStore cluster.

Steps

  1. Log in to the VMware vSphere Client.
  2. Click Menu > Dell VSI.
  3. Click Storage Systems on the left side.
    The Storage Systems page is displayed.
  4. To monitor the capacity for PowerStore cluster, select the PowerStore storage system from the Storage Systems page. Click the storage name and the details for selected PowerStore storage system are displayed.
  5. Select the Capacity tab.
    It displays the information in four different widgets:
    • Usage:

      By default, the widget displays the physical capacity used and free capacity available. If you wish to view the logical capacity, you can change the view by selecting Logical Used option from the drop down in the widget.

    • Historical Usage:

      This widget displays the historical capacity usage for the cluster. The metrics displayed are Physical Total, Physical Used, and Logical Used by VMware.

      You can select or deselect the metrics by clicking the metric in the widget to customize the view. You can also select the time range in the widget, click View drop down in the widget, you can select any time range between last 24 hours to last 2 years.

      This widget also provides an option to print the historical usage chart. Click the menu option in the widget to print.

      This widget also provides an option to download the historical usage in different image formats. Click the menu option in the widget to select the image format you wish to download.

    • Data Savings:

      This widget displays the information related to data savings, such as Overall Efficiency, Snap Savings, and Thin Savings. It also displays a graphical representation of Data Reduction, the ratio between logical used and physical used.

    • Top Consumers:

      This widget displays the top 10 VMware objects that are consuming the most space on the PowerStore cluster. You can customize the view by selecting the resource type from the drop down in the widget.
