Install PowerFlex SDC

Use the procedure in this topic to install SDC on hosts.

Prerequisites

  • Hosts with ESXi versions earlier than 6.7 are not supported.

Steps

  1. Log in to the VMware vSphere Client.
  2. Click Menu > Dell VSI.
  3. Click Storage Systems on the left side.
    The Storage Systems page displays the registered storage systems.
  4. Click the PowerFlex storage system name to view the details.
  5. To view the hosts associated with PowerFlex storage system, click the Hosts tab.
    The Hosts tab displays all the associated hosts.
    NOTE When there are hosts that do not have SDC installed, a message will be displayed to indicate how many ESXi hosts can be used for SDC installation.

    Click + in the host page, the Install SDC on Host(s) dialog box is displayed.

  6. In the Install SDC on Host(s) dialog, specify the path to the SDC zip files.
    NOTE
    • The SDC zip files must be placed on the host beforehand.
    • If both 6.7 and 7.x ESXi hosts are selected, two input boxes will be displayed. You must specify the path to the correct versions accordingly.
  7. Click INSTALL.
    Tasks related to installation are created and displayed in the Recent Tasks panel.

    After the installation is completed, the Hosts tab is refreshed. You must reboot the hosts manually to complete the Install SDC operation.
