Edit VMFS Datastore for PowerStore

Use the procedure in this topic to edit VMFS datastore properties for a PowerStore storage system.

Prerequisites

You must have access to PowerStore storage system to increase the datastore capacity and change performance and protection policies.

Steps

  1. Log in to the VMware vSphere Client.
  2. Click Menu > Storage.
  3. Select the VMFS datastore that you want to edit, click Configure > Dell VSI > Storage.
    You can edit the following properties:
    • Datastore Capacity
    • Performance Policy
    • Protection Policy
  4. To increase the datastore capacity, click INCREASE under the Capacity card.
    The Increase Datastore Capacity dialog box is displayed. Modify the datastore size, click SAVE.
    NOTE Increase capacity function will be unavailable when datastore capacity is being calculated.
  5. To change the performance policy, click CHANGE POLICY under the Performance card.
    The Change Performance Policy dialog box is displayed. Select a different policy, click SAVE.
  6. To change or assign a protection policy, click CHANGE POLICY under the Protection card.
    The Protection card displays the number of snapshots. You can click the number of snapshots to navigate to Snapshots tab.
    NOTE The navigation is enabled only when there is at least one snapshot.
    The Change Protection Policy dialog box is displayed. Select a policy or select None to remove from protection. Click SAVE.
