Create Thin Clone of Snapshot
Use the procedure in this topic to create thin clone of the snapshot for VMFS datastores on Unity storage system.
Prerequisites
- Snapshot must be created.
- Snapshot must have Retention Policy as No Automatic Deletion.
- Snapshot must not be attached as read/write.
Steps
- Log in to the VMware vSphere Client.
- Click .
- Select the VMFS datastore, click .
- Click Snapshots tab, it displays the list of snapshots that are created on the datastore.

Select the snapshot that you want to use to create the clone and click
.
The Thin Clone of Snapshot wizard is displayed.

Provide the following details in the
Thin Clone of Snapshot wizard:
- Enter the Name.
- Enter the Desciption.
- In Host Access, select the host from the list of hosts displayed to mount the clone.
- Select the Host I/O Limits.
- Select the Snapshot Schedule.

Click
CLONE to create the thin clone of the selected snapshot.
A thin clone of the snapshot is successfully created.NOTE For snapshots that has clones, expiration policy cannot be changed.
