Create a Thin Clone

Use the procedure in this topic to create a thin clone of the Dell PowerStore storage system.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure that the host used to mount the clone has FC or iSCSI connection with Dell PowerStore storage system.

Steps

  1. Log in to the VMware vSphere Client.
  2. Click Menu > Storage.
  3. Right-click a datastore, select Dell VSI > Create Thin Clone.
    The Create Thin Clone wizard is displayed.
  4. Enter the name for datastore clone, select the protocol type, and select the host from the list of hosts displayed to mount the clone.
    NOTE You can click the info icon to view the NVMe transport information.
  5. Select the Performance Policy and Protection Policy (Optional). Click CREATE.
    The selected host will be rescanned to mount the clone and the datastore will be cloned. The cloned datastore is a named snap-{datastore_name}.
