Configure Metro for VMFS Datastore

Use the procedure in this topic to configure metro for VMFS datastore.

Steps

  1. Log in to the VMware vSphere Client.
  2. Click Menu > Storage.
  3. Select the datastore that you want to view, click Configure > Dell VSI > Storage.
The storage details for the VMFS datastore are displayed.
  4. In the Protection card, click CONFIGURE METRO.
The Configure Metro Volume dialog box is displayed.
  5. Select the Remote System from the drop down.
Configuring a metro volume creates a duplicate volume on the remote system.
NOTE The remote system that you select must be registered to VSI.
  6. You can switch on or off the toggle for View host mappings to view or hide the host mapping details.
  7. You can select the check box Do not perform the host mapping operation if you do not wish to continue with defaults chosen by VSI. You can configure host mapping and connectivity settings after Metro volume is created.
NOTE If the checkbox is not selected, host mapping will be done automatically by VSI.
  8. Click CONFIGURE.
    A Metro volume is created.
