Set Snapshot for Recovery on Protected Storage

Use the procedure in this topic to set snapshot for recovery on protected storage.

Prerequisites

  • You must register a RecoverPoint or PowerStore 3.0 system.
NOTE This function is supported for both RecoverPoint and PowerStore storage systems.

Steps

  1. Log in to VMware vSphere Client.
  2. Click Menu > Dell VSI.
  3. Click Storage Systems on the left side.
    The list of registered storage systems are displayed.
  4. Click the RecoverPoint or PowerStore storage system name link.
    The details of the selected storage system is displayed.
  5. Click the Protection tab drop-down and click SRM Recovery Points.
  6. To view the SRM protection groups, select Manage by Dell Protected Storage button.
    The details of SRM protection groups for the selected storage system is displayed.
    NOTE You can customize the view of the data-grid and select the desired columns to be displayed.

    Click the Show or hide columns icon located at the bottom left of protection group list. Select the checkbox to display or deselect the checkbox to hide the columns in the Details tab.

  7. Select the protected storage that you want to set a snapshot for recovery. Click SET SNAPSHOT FOR RECOVERY button.
    The Set Snapshot for Recovery dialog box is displayed.
  8. Select the snapshot from the list of snapshots. The snapshots listed are the current date snapshots.
    NOTE If you want to select a snapshot of another day, use the calendar to select a specific date.
  9. The selected snapshot is maintained for recovery for 3 hours by default. You can increase or decrease the time for a snapshot to be maintained. The hour selection is 1 to 12 hours, click the drop down Maintain snapshot selection for recovery for -- hours to select the number of hours.
  10. Click OK to set the selected snapshot for recovery.
    NOTE You can also select multiple protected storage to set snapshots for recovery. If you wish to set snapshots for recovery on multiple protected storages, make sure they have snapshots in same period.

    The Set Snapshot for Recovery dialog box displays the selected protected storage and the calendar/time widget is used to get the most recent snapshot for the selected protected storage. The snapshot will be automatically selected to set for recovery.
