Restore VM using VMFS Datastore Snapshot

Use the procedure in this topic to restore a VM from PowerStore VMFS datastore snapshot.

Steps

  1. Log in to the VMware vSphere Client.
  2. Click Menu > VMs and Templates.
  3. Right-click the VM you want to restore, select Dell VSI > Restore VM.
    The Restore VM using Datastore snapshot dialog box is displayed.
    NOTE
    • When you right-click a VM that is not on PowerStore, an error message Virtual machine restore is not available is displayed.
    • When you right-click a VM that has RDM residing on it, an error message Only supports restore on the VM where NO RDM is residing is displayed.
  4. Select a snapshot from the list, give the backup snapshot name or keep the default name and click RESTORE.
    You can also restore VM from the datastore snapshots tab, click Dell VSI > Storage > Datastore Snapshots.
    1. Select the snapshot from the Datastore Snapshots tab and click RESTORE VM. The Restore VM using Datastore snapshot dialog box is displayed.
    2. Click RESTORE.
    NOTE Restore VM operation is supported only for a VM where no RDM is residing.
