Detach Snapshot

Learn how to detach a snapshot from the host.

Prerequisites

  • The snapshot must be attached to a host.

Steps

  1. Log in to the VMware vSphere Client.
  2. Click Menu > Storage.
  3. Select the VMFS datastore, click Configure > Dell VSI > Storage.
    NOTE Only VMFS datastores support attach and detach snapshots functionality.
  4. Click Snapshots tab, it displays the list of snapshots that are created on the datastore.
  5. Select the snapshot that you want to detach from the host. Click More Actions > Detach Snapshot.
    The Detach Snapshots of Datastore dialog box is displayed.
    NOTE Detach functionality is not supported if the VM is created on the datastore which is created out of attached snapshot volume.
  6. Click DETACH.
    The selected snapshot is detached from all hosts. The value of the property Attached is changed to No.
