Removing the system board

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. battery
    2. optical drive
    3. keyboard
    4. base cover
    5. WLAN card
    6. memory module
    7. heat sink
    8. system fan
  3. Remove the screw and lift the display hinge from the computer [1, 2].

  4. Lift the locking tab to disconnect the following cables
    1. hard drive connector [1]
    2. power connector [2]
    3. remove the adhesive tape [3]
    4. lift the locking tab and disconnect the eDP connector [4]
    5. speaker [5]
    6. touchpad connector [6]
    7. I/O connector [7]

  5. Remove the two M2L3 screws that secure the system board to the computer [1] and lift the system board [2].

  6. Flip the system board.
  7. To remove the system board:
    1. Peel the adhesive tape [1].
    2. Unlock the tab and disconnect the power cable [2].
    3. Remove the system board from the computer.
