Removing the system board

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. base cover
    2. battery
    3. system fan
    4. memory module
    5. WLAN
    6. SSD
    7. heatsink
  3. To remove the system board:
    1. Peel the adhesive tape from the IO board connector [1].
    2. Lift the connector latch and disconnect the IO board cable from the connector on the system board [2].
    3. Peel the adhesive tapes from the display assembly connector [3].
    4. Lift the connector latch and disconnect the display assembly cable from the connector on the system board [4].
      Removing the system board
    5. Remove the following cables:
      • coin-cell battery cable [1]
      • hard drive cable [2]
      • touchpad cable [3]
      • power-adapter cable [4]
      • speaker cable [7]
      • keyboard cable [8]
      • keyboard backlight cable (optional) [9]
    6. Remove the two (M2x3) screws that secure the USB Type-C port bracket to the system board [5].
    7. Lift the USB Type-C port bracket away from the system [6].

    8. Remove the three (M2x2 Big head) screws that secures the system board to the palmrest and keyboard assembly [1].
    9. Lift the system board away from the system [2].
