Create an NTP server record

Create an NTP server to specify an IP address of each NTP server the system will use.

NOTE:By default, the first NTP server address you specify will become the primary.

Format

/net/ntp/server create –server <value> [-force {noReboot | allowReboot | allowDU}]

Action qualifier

QualifierDescription
-serverType the name or IP address of an NTP server.
-forceAccept or decline the system reboot, which may be needed to complete the time change. If the qualifier isn't specified, you will be asked to confirm reboot if it's needed. Valid values are:
  • noReboot
  • allowReboot
  • allowDU
NOTE:Note: allowDU is used if the system is in a degraded state or has one SP (data will be unavailable during its reboot). Otherwise allowReboot is used. In silent mode, system will be rebooted if needed.

Example

The following creates an NTP server record that contains NTP server address 0.north-america.pool.ntp.org:

uemcli -d 10.0.0.1 -u Local/joe -p MyPassword456! /net/ntp/server create –server 0.north-america.pool.ntp.org
Storage system address: 10.0.0.1
Storage system port: 443
HTTPS connection

ID = NTP_0.north-america.pool.ntp.org
Operation completed successfully.
