Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Support Matrix

PDF

Introduction

SupportAssist OS Recovery is factory-installed on supported Dell systems and does not require you to purchase any additional service plans. It provides a recovery environment that consists of tools to diagnose and troubleshoot issues that may occur before your computer boots to the operating system. When your computer is unable to boot to the operating system even after repeated attempts, it automatically starts SupportAssist OS Recovery. The recovery environment enables you to diagnose hardware issues, repair your computer, back up your files, or reset your computer to its factory state.

NOTE:SupportAssist OS Recovery supports systems running Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Windows 11 operating systems.

This document provides the list of systems where SupportAssist OS Recovery is supported. It also mentions whether the system supports the reset and update feature which allows you to update the operating system of your PC to the latest available version.

The document also lists if the system has a BIOSConnect support. BIOSConnect may be available on your PC in one of the following configurations:

  • Attached BIOSConnect—where most of the BIOSConnect software components reside on the service partition of the hard drive. Formatting the hard drive results in loss of BIOSConnect capabilities.
  • Hybrid BIOSConnect—where most of the BIOSConnect software components, except the wireless driver stack, reside on the firmware. Formatting the hard drive affects the BIOSConnect capabilities. BIOSConnect can start SupportAssist OS Recovery only if your PC is connected to the Internet through a wired Internet connection.
  • Embedded BIOSConnect—where all BIOSConnect software components, including supported wireless driver stack, reside on the firmware. Loss or damage of hard drive partition does not impact BIOSConnect wireless capabilities.
