Configure Dell SupportAssist

Use the following instructions to configure SupportAssist on the fabric from the UI:

You must accept the EULA consent to enable all other configurations required to enable SupportAssist completely.
  1. Click Global Settings.
  2. Click SupportAssist > Configuration.

  3. Set the EULA consent. You must accept the EULA first to proceed with the SupportAssist configuration.
    1. Click Edit button to accept the EULA content.
      NOTE:If you reject the EULA, you cannot configure the SupportAssist feature. If a SupportAssist configuration exists, the configuration, including the universal key, is deleted, and the feature is disabled.
    2. Click Submit.
  4. Set SupportAssist server URL.
    1. Click Edit button to set the SupportAssist server URL.
    2. Select the server URL option:
      • Default—The default server URL is https://esrs3-core.emc.com
      • Configure—Enter the SupportAssist server URL
    3. Click Submit
  5. Register the switches in the fabric to the SupportAssist server. You can register the switch only if the server URL is set.
    The table lists the switches available in the fabric. You must register the individual switches in the fabric with the SupportAssist server. You must generate the access key.
    1. Click Register against the switches that you want to register.
    2. Click the link to Generate Access Key. See the KB Article for more details on creating an access-key and pin.
  6. Schedule a time for a full data transfer.
    1. Click Edit button to set the schedule.
    2. Select Enable checkbox to schedule a time for data transfer.
    3. Select the frequency of the schedule from the list.
      • Yearly—Choose a month from the drop-down list and enter the day, hours, and minutes
      • Monthly—Enter the day, time, and minutes
      • Weekly—Choose a weekday from the list and enter the hours and minutes
      • Daily—Enter the time in hours and minutes
      • Hourly—Enter the minutes
      NOTE:SupportAssist requires hourly transfers from the switch. Dell Technologies recommends setting the frequency of the schedule to Hourly.
    4. Click Submit
    To transfer the data immediately, you can clear the Schedule checkbox configuration and click Submit.
  7. Set company contact information.

    Dell Technologies Technical Support uses this information to identify which company owns the device.

    1. Click Edit to set the company contact information.
    2. Enter the company name, address, city, state, country, ZIP code, and territory information.
    3. Click Submit.
  8. Set contact information.
    1. Click Edit to configure contact details.
    2. Enter the contact name, primary and alternate email IDs, primary and alternate contact phone numbers, and the preferred contact method.
    3. Click Submit.
