Register Secure Connect Gateway

Prerequisites

  • Sign in to Secure Connect Gateway
  • If your firewall is configured to validate TLS certificates, the associated certificate authority certificate files must be added to your firewall list of trusted authorities. The certificates can be downloaded using the following links:
    • DellSecureRemoteServicesRootCA.crt—http://esrs-crl.emc.com/DellSecureRemoteServicesRootCA.crt
    • ESRS2CA.cer—http://esrs-crl.emc.com/ESRS2CA.crt

About this task

When you sign in to secure connect gateway and create an administrator account for the first time, you are automatically directed to perform registration. If required, you can complete the registration later. However, you must complete the registration process to add and manage your devices in secure connect gateway.

Steps

  1. In the Proxy settings section, perform one of the following steps:
    • If the local system connects to the Internet directly, click Next.
    • If the local system connects to the Internet through a proxy server, enable the option to use proxy network.
      NOTE:Secure connect gateway supports the Basic HTTP proxy authentication method. Other authentication methods such as Digest and Negotiate (NTLM) are not supported.
    If you clicked Next, the connectivity is verified and if the connection is successful, the Authentication section is displayed.
  2. If you enabled the option to use proxy network, perform the following steps:
    1. Enter the hostname or IP address and the port number of the proxy server.
      NOTE: The proxy server hostname can only contain . (period) and - (hyphen) special characters.
    2. If a username and password are required to connect to the proxy server, enable the option to confirm that the proxy network requires authentication.
    3. Enter the username and password for the proxy server.
    4. Click Next.
    If the connection is successful, the Authentication section is displayed.
  3. In the Authentication section, enter the access key and PIN that you generated while downloading the secure connect gateway deployment package. To generate a new access key and PIN, go to the Overview section on the Secure Connect Gateway - Virtual Edition page.
    NOTE:The access key and PIN must be used within seven days and cannot be used to register multiple instances of secure connect gateway.
  4. Click Next.
    If the authentication is successful, the Primary support contact section is displayed.
  5. By default, your company name and contact information are displayed. If required, edit the information, select the time zone, and then click Next.
    If the registration is successful, the Summary section is displayed.
  6. Click Finish.
    The Restore from backup section is displayed.
  7. Upload a backup file that you want to restore and click Restore, else, click Skip. The time taken to complete the restore process depends on the file size. A success message is displayed after the restore, Click Ok.
    NOTE:The following are not restored for security purposes:
    • Device credentials
    • SNMP v3 settings
    • Certificate details
    • Proxy Server details
    • Backup and restore configurations
    • Preferred contact and shipping details
    • LDAP, SMTP, Policy Manager, and adapter credentials
    • Credential vault API key
    • RSA SecurID certificate and access key required for two-factor authentication

Results

The secure connect gateway welcome page is displayed. You can configure the environment settings, or add devices from the welcome page. You can also access the secure connect gateway dashboard from the welcome page.
