Use this procedure to replace the CloudLink 7.1.9 cluster.
Prerequisites
Before you replace the initial CloudLink cluster, record the existing IP addresses, netmask, and gateway of the existing CloudLink cluster.
Steps
From the CloudLink 7.1.9 web console, generate a CloudLink backup:
Browse to the IP address or hostname of one of the CloudLink Center VMs.
Log in using the secadmin credentials.
Navigate to
System > Backup.
To generate a new key and backup file, click
Generate New Backup.
Download both the key and backup file and store together. These files are required while restoring. If you have a CloudLink 7.1.9 cluster, backup from one of the cluster members is sufficient.
Power off the CloudLink 7.1.9 VM from step 1. The connected nodes are connected to another member of an existing cluster.
Deploy a new CloudLink 8.1.x OVA:
From the VMware vSphere Client, log in to the vCSA and click
Menu > Shortcuts > Hosts and Clusters.
From
PFMC datacenter, right-click
PFMC Cluster and select
Deploy OVF Template.
Select the local file and click
Upload Files.
Select the CloudLink OVA and click
Open > Next and enter the name.
Click
Next thrice and select the datastore and virtual disk format:
Thin Provision.
Click
Next, select the CloudLink Center associated VLAN, and click
Next > Finish.
Before powering on the CloudLink 8.1.x VM for the first time, configure the network settings to retrieve the same static IP address which was originally assigned to the now powered down 7.1.9 CloudLink Center (from step 2):
Navigate to the VM from the vCenter inventory.
On the
Configure tab, expand
Settings, select
vApp options, and click
Edit....
From
OVF Details > OVF Environment transport , select the
VMware Tools check box, and click
OK.
Under
OVF Settings, ensure that
View OVF Environment and
OVF Environment Transport: VMware Tools and Installation boot are disabled as VM is in a
powered off state.
Under
Properties, click
ADD and create separate entries for the following values. Ensure you add the key ID and label as specified in the following table for all labels.
Table 1. Key IDs and labelsEntries you need to create for Key IDs and labels

Hostname (optional)
After each entry, click
Save.
For each item created in the previous step, select
Set Value and set the static IP address, gateway, netmask, and hostname (optionally).
Snapshot the setting values (if desired).
Power on the CloudLink 8.1.x VM:
From the VMware vSphere Client, log in to the vCSA, click
Menu > Shortcuts > Hosts and Clusters.
From
PFMC datacenter, click
PFMC cluster, and right-click
CloudLink 8.1 VM.
Click
Power > Power ON.
Once the CloudLink VM boots up, the IP configuration should be set as the static IP address and the web console should be reachable.
Browse to the hostname or IP address of the powered on CloudLink Center 8.1.x.
From
Boot Terms and EULA, accept the terms and conditions and set the secadmin credential password (use recorded value).
The initial configuration window appears on top of the main console view.
To set the login password to the existing CloudLink 7.1.9 VM login password, click
Change password.
Set the console password to the existing CloudLink 7.1.9 VM password. This may be defined as a CloudLink console or an
OS user. Click
Change Console Password.
If you configured the optional hostname parameter, the
INITIAL CONFIGURATION wizard contains the value. If not, a randomly affixed name appears. If you intend to modify the hostname, enter a name and click
Next. The
INITIAL CONFIGURATION wizard reloads and may take a minute or so to reconnect. You may have to refresh the browser.
Click
Next and wait for the browser to refresh.
Click
Deployment Type and select
Restore from Backup.
Select
CloudLink 7.1.5+ for
Backup File Version and set
CloudLink Data is backed up to
Yes. Click
Next.
A warning appears, directing to restore only on standalone node (future nodes are added as cluster members).
Click
Next.
When prompted for the server name or IP address, retain the pre-populated IP address of the new VM and click
Next.
To upload the key file and backup file, click
Folder, browse and select the key or backup file, and click
Open. Click
Restore.
Wait for a couple of minutes until restore completes successfully.
Log in and check if the restore is successful with CloudLink Center 8.1.x.
Confirm the configuration data (DNS, NTP, etc) from the previous instance, such as, the time servers. Click
Server > Time.
