Clone NAS server and file system

PowerFlex file users can clone their NAS server and file system for environment repurposing.

About this task

Any existing NAS server can be cloned. When performing a clone NAS server operation, a new NAS Server or file systems are created. By default, the NAS server is cloned to the same primary and secondary nodes as the parent NAS server. The NAS server can be moved later if the user wants a different primary or backup node. The user can select the file systems to clone; the default is no file systems. The user can delete or modify the parent or ancestor NAS server without impacting the cloned NAS server. The cloned NAS server is created with an empty network configuration, and the user must configure it through PowerFlex Manager. The NFS export and SMB share are also cloned during the NAS server cloning operation.

Steps

  1. Log in to PowerFlex Manager.
  2. Click File > NAS Servers.
  3. Select the NAS server that you want to clone, and click Repurpose > Clone NAS Server.
  4. From the Create NAS Server Clone window, provide a name for the clone and select the file systems to clone.
  5. Click Create.
The cloned NAS server is now added to the NAS server list.
NOTE:File interface details must be configured explicitly after creating the clone, as this configuration is not performed in the NAS clone creation process.
  6. Select the cloned NAS server and click View Details > Network > File Interface > +Add.
  7. Provide the interface information and click Add.
  8. For routes to external services, Select the cloned NAS server and click View Details > Network > Routes to External Services > +Add
  9. Provide the information and click Add.
