Converting a private key from PuTTY format to OpenSSH format
Perform this procedure to convert a private key from PuTTY to OpenSSH format.
Steps
- Navigate to the folder where PuTTY was installed.
- Double-click puttygen.exe to open the PuTTY Key Generator.
- Click on the menu bar.
- Select the private key that you want to convert to OpenSSH format and click Open.
- Click on the menu bar.

Click
Save to save the key.
The key should now be in OpenSSH format.

Copy the public key content that is displayed on the
Key tab in the
PuTTY Key Generator.
You need this content so you can copy it to the nodes.
