Dell PowerFlex 4.5.x Install and Upgrade Guide

Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS upgrade to version 8.3 and later

In cases where you are upgrading the operating system from Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS 8.0 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS 8.3 and later on a node containing preconfigure NVDIMMs (devdax devices), you are required to use the upgrade command for no dependencies.

About this task

NOTE:If you are upgrading multiple PowerFlex nodes, perform the following steps one PowerFlex node at a time.

Steps

  1. From the PowerFlex, place the node into protected maintenance mode and wait for the operating to complete.
  2. From the system console, enter:
    dnf upgrade --nobest
  3. Answer Yes to all questions that occur during the upgrade process.
  4. Wait for the upgrade process to complete, including the reboot, if required.
  5. From the PowerFlex, remove the node from protected maintenance mode.
    Wait for the rebuild to complete.
  6. Check the upgrade log in the node to determine whether any packages require upgrading manually.
  7. Go to the next node, if relevant.
