Dell PowerFlex 4.5.x Install and Upgrade Guide

Finalize firewall configuration

RKE2 uses Calico as a networking and security solution that enables Kubernetes workloads to communicate securely performing similar yet more dynamic functions as firewalld.

About this task

Firewalld can interfere with the dynamic nature of Calico, therefore, firewalld must be disabled. For more information, see Known issues and limitations with rke2.

Steps

To disable firewalld, do the following:
  1. Log in to PowerFlex management platform node using SSH and run the following command:
    systemctl stop firewalld
    systemctl disable firewalld

  2. To verify firewalld is stopped and disabled, run the following command:
    systemctl status firewalld
    Example output:
    firewalld.service - firewalld - dynamic firewall daemon
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/firewalld.service; disabled; vendor preset: disabled)
         Active: inactive (dead)
           Docs: man:firewalld(1)
Do this on all remaining PFMP nodes
