Dell PowerFlex 4.5.x Install and Upgrade Guide

Deploying PowerFlex using a non-root user

Install or expand PowerFlex in Linux environments using a nonroot sudo user in noninteractive mode. This option is used only when a CSV file is used to install PowerFlex.

Sudo is a program that allows you to run or install a program as the root user. Create a sudo user to install PowerFlex.

To deploy PowerFlex with a nonroot user, the nonroot user must meet the following conditions:

  • The username in the CSV file must already exist.
  • A nonroot user must be a sudo user.
  • Nonroot user must be in noninteractive mode.
  • The requirement for TTY must be disabled.

In the CSV file used for installation, you must indicate that you are intending to use a sudo nonroot username by appending the string (sudo) to the username in the Username field. For example, if you are using a nonroot user with the username non_root, enter the string non_root(sudo) in the username field of the CSV file.
