Adding the details of an existing network enables
PowerFlex Manager to automatically configure nodes that are connected to the network.
About this task
Enter detailed information about the available networks in the environment. This information is used later during deployments to configure nodes and switches to have the right network connectivity.
PowerFlex Manager uses the defined networks in templates to specify the networks or VLANs that are configured on nodes and switches for your resource groups. This step is enabled immediately after you perform an initial setup for
PowerFlex Manager.
Steps
On the menu bar, click
Settings and click
Networks.
The
Networks page opens.
Click
Define. The
Define Network page opens.
In the
Name field, enter the name of the network. Optionally, in the
Description field, enter a description for the network.
From the
Network Type drop-down list, select one of the following network types:
PowerFlex Management - Depends on number of nodes in the PowerFlex file cluster.
PowerFlex Data
- Define the number of data networks depends on the number of data networks configured on the PowerFlex block storage.
NAS File Management – Always define one additional IP address for NAS cluster which means if you have three Powerflex file nodes in the cluster, define four IP addresses (three IP addresses for nodes and one IP address for cluster). Ensure that you configured untagged VLAN in switch side for NAS File Management network.
NAS File Data - Define the VLAN ID, which is the VLAN used for configuring the NAS server interface after deployment. Reserving static IP addresses for
PowerFlex file node data is optional.
In the
VLAN ID field, enter a VLAN ID between 1 and 4094.
NOTE:PowerFlex Manager uses the VLAN ID to configure I/O modules to enable network traffic to flow from the node to configured networks during deployment.
Optionally, select the
Configure Static IP Address Ranges check box, and then do the following:
In the
Subnet box, enter the IP address for the subnet. The subnet is used to support static routes for data and replication networks.
In the
Subnet Mask box, enter the subnet mask.
In the
Gateway box, enter the default gateway IP address for routing network traffic.
Optionally, in the
Primary DNS and
Secondary DNS fields, enter the IP addresses of primary DNS and secondary DNS.
Optionally, in the
DNS Suffix field, enter the DNS suffix to append for hostname resolution.
To add an IP address range, click Add
IP Address Range. In the row, indicate the role in
PowerFlex nodes for the IP address range and then specify a starting and ending IP address for the range. For the
Role, select
Client Only. The range is assigned to the client role on PowerFlex file nodes.
NOTE:IP address ranges cannot overlap. For example, you cannot create an IP address range of 10.10.10.1–10.10.10.100 and another range of 10.10.10.50–10.10.10.150.
