Login command examples

./powerflex_cli login --username scaleio --password scaleio --cert_file /tmp/my_ca_cert.crt --server_address dellpowerflex.com

Try to log in to dellpowerflex.com using the certificate, /tmp/my_ca_cert.crt. The certificate is copied automatically to ~/.powerflex_cli/certificates/dellpowerflex.com/ca.crt. For details about how to get the certificate from PowerFlex Manager server, see the section, Certificate. If the login succeeds, an encrypted session file ~/.powerflex_cli/cli/default.token is generated.

A session token is returned, which you can use for subsequent CLI sessions.

NOTE:You must have a session token to use the CLI.

Login command with session name

An example of a login command with a session name is given below. 

./powerflex_cli login --username scaleio --password scaleio --cert_file /tmp/my_ca_cert.crt --server_address dellpowerflex.com –session_name some_script_name
  1. Copy /tmp/my_ca_cert.crt to ~/.powerflex_cli/certificates/dellpowerflex.com/ca.crt
  2. Try to log in to dellpowerflex.com using the certificate. If the login succeeds:
    • An encrypted session file ~/.powerflex_cli/cli/some_script_name.token is generated.

      A session token is returned.

Login command without certificate

An example of a login command with a session name is given below. 

./powerflex_cli login --username scaleio --password scaleio --server_address dellpowerflex.com
  1. Try to log in to dellpowerflex.com using the certificate ~/.powerflex_cli/certificates/dellpowerflex.com/ca.crt.
  2. If the certificate does not exist, the login without the certificate.
