Upgrade Dell PowerFlex to v3.6.x

PDF

Upgrading two-layer configurations (Linux-based and ESX-based)

Upgrade a system when the MDM, SDS, and SDR (optional) components are deployed on bare metal servers, and the SDCs reside on ESXi-based nodes.

This type of upgrade uses the PowerFlex Installer (part of the PowerFlex Gateway), together with the LIA of the new version, to orchestrate the upgrade.

The ESXi-based upgrade process uses the vSphere PowerFlex plug-in.

NOTE:To verify if LIA is installed, or to add LIA to a system where it is not installed, see "Add LIA to a system to enable automated upgrade" in the Configure and Customize Dell PowerFlex.

Upgrading is non-disruptive; you can upgrade while I/Os are running, and volumes are mapped.

The MDM cluster can be extended from 3-node mode to 5-node mode after upgrading. For more information, see the Configure and Customize Dell PowerFlex.
