Ensure that you have the current version and the target version of the
PowerFlex RHEL OL7 packages.
Ensure that you know the media type (SSD or HDD) of the devices in the system's Storage Pools. You will need to supply this information during the upgrade process. This version of
PowerFlex does not allow mixed device types in Storage Pools, so ensure that your Storage Pools are configured accordingly before you upgrade your system.
Ensure that you know the IP addresses and credentials for the
PowerFlex Gateway, MDM and LIA.
Steps
In command line, upgrade the RPM of the
PowerFlex Gateway to v3.6:
rpm -Uvh <RHEL7_GATEWAY_PACKAGE>
From the
PowerFlex plug-in, launch the
PowerFlex Gateway SVM. Right-click the
PowerFlex system, and select
Open
PowerFlex Gateway.
Log in as an admin user of the
PowerFlex Gateway.
Using a web browser, go to the
PowerFlex Gateway's IP address, and log into the
PowerFlex Installer.
In the
Packages view, upload the v2.6.1.1 RHEL OL7 packages and the v3.6 RHEL OL7 packages.
In the
Maintain view, enter the primary MDM IP address, MDM Username (admin user), and MDM password. Enter the LIA authentication type and password. Click
Retrieve system topology.
When you are prompted, approve all the certificates.
At the bottom of the window, click
Upgrade, enter the MDM password, and select the following check boxes:
Do not upgrade any SDC
Allow upgrade, even when already in upgrade state
Set High Performance profile for MDM, SDS and SDC
Click
Upgrade.
When a link to approve all certificates is displayed, approve all the certificates.
When you are prompted to select the device media type for each Storage Pool, select the appropriate type for each Storage Pool. To continue, click
Proceed.
Retype the MDM password and select your desired settings for the upgrade:
NOTE:SDC upgrade is performed using the
PowerFlex plug-in, and should not be selected now.
Select the check box
Do not upgrade any SDCs
Select the check box
Allow upgrade, even when already in upgrade state
Select the check box
Set High Performance profile for MDM, SDS and SDC
Click
Upgrade.
Go to the
Monitor view to follow the progress of the upgrade and to move from one stage of the process to the next.
When the Query phase is complete, click
Start upload phase.
When the Upload phase is complete, click
Start install phase.
When the Install phase is complete, click
Mark operation completed.
In command line, check system status:
scli --query_all
In the returned output:
The MDM cluster state should be optimal.
All SDSs should be connected and running version v3.6.
All SDCs should be connected.
