Preparation
Prepare your ESX-based system for the upgrade. Ensure that all relevant parties have been notified about these maintenance activities.
Prerequisites
Shut down, VMotion or evacuate all VMs from the host, because it will be restarted during the upgrade procedure. Ensure that this is done gracefully, as described in the Reference part of this guide. Perform the restart only when directed to do so in the procedure. If the servers hosting SDCs also host SDSs, perform the procedure one node at a time.
Steps
- Put the SDS into maintenance mode, then power off the SVM.
- Put the ESX host into maintenance mode.
