Upgrade the component firmware using

If required, upgrade the firmware version of the new component to the supported version using Dell .

Prerequisites

NOTE:To manually upgrade the firmware using the Dell Lifecycle Controller, skip to the next task.

Ensure that:

  • You have network connectivity to the system.
  • You know the IP address of the iDRAC port for the node.
  • You know the username and password for accessing the iDRAC (default username/password are root/Scaleio123).

About this task

Steps

  1. From your Internet browser, go to https://<iDRAC_IP_address>,

    where <iDRAC_IP_address> is the IP address of the node's iDRAC port.

  2. Verify that the iDRAC consoleis for the correct system based on the Service Tag and the iDRAC IP address you entered in the URL, and then in the login window enter the user name and password and click Login.
  3. If the node is not yet powered on, from the main dashboard, select Power on System, and then click OK.
    NOTE:System startup may take a few minutes due to system inventory refresh and drive scans on the node.

    If the node is already powered on, skip to Step 5.

  4. Wait for the node to go through the bootup cycle. You can monitor the power up in the main dashboard's Virtual Console window.
  5. From the iDRAC menu bar, select the System tab, and then click Inventory > Firmware Inventory.
  6. Check the firmware version of the new component against the driver and support matrix. If a firmware upgrade is required, continue to the next step, or skip to the next task to upgrade the firmware manually.
    NOTE:If no firmware upgrade is required, proceed directly to the task immediately after the instructions for manually upgrading the firmware.
  7. If necessary, configure a laptop or server with access to the iDRAC network.
