Java upgrade prerequisites

Before changing the Java version of a node that is running PowerFlex Gateway, you must prepare lockbox-related files.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have Oracle JRE 1.8 build 301 or OpenJDK JDK 8 build 302.b08 installed before upgrading your system.

About this task

NOTE:If you want to upgrade OpenJDK to version 11.0.12.0.7, upgrade it after upgrade of the PowerFlex Gateway.
NOTE:DO NOT perform the following procedure when upgrading to OpenJDK to version 11.0.12.0.7.

The lockbox in PowerFlex uses files in the Java folder of the PowerFlex Gateway. These files need to be saved before any Java version update, then pasted back into the Java folder.

Steps

  1. On the PowerFlex Gateway, in the jre\lib\ext (or jre/lib/ext for Windows) Java folder, copy these files to a different folder:
    • commons-lang3-3.6.jar
    • cryptoj-6.2.3.jar
  2. Update the Java version.
  3. Paste the files back to the folder from where you copied them.
