Install SDC on ESXi servers using the vSphere
PowerFlex plug-in.
Steps
Prepare the ESXi hosts:
Log in to the vSphere web client.
Open the
PowerFlex plug-in window by clicking the
PowerFlex icon.
From the
Basic Tasks section of the
PowerFlex page, click
Pre-Deployment Actions.
The
Pre-Deployment Actions page appears.
Drill-down on the vCenter to display connected ESXi hosts.
For every ESXi host that might be part of this
PowerFlex system (even if only in the future):
Select
Install SDC.
Type
ESXi Root Password.
NOTE: Do not select
Convert ISO. This feature is in preparation for a future release of
VxFlex Ready Node.
Click
Run.
The status appears in the dialog box.
When finished, click
Finish.
You must restart the ESXi hosts before proceeding.
Register the system:
From the
PowerFlex plug-in page, click
Register
PowerFlex system.
Enter the credentials of the system.
Click
OK.
Deploy
PowerFlex:
From the
PowerFlex plug-in page, click
Deploy
PowerFlex environment.
The
PowerFlex deployment wizard is displayed.
In the
Select Installation page, select
Add servers to a registered
PowerFlex system, and select the system that you want to extend.
Continue with the deployment steps, adding the new SDC nodes.
You can skip steps that do not need to be changed. When adding components, the wizard adjusts the displayed pages to options that are relevant to the current
PowerFlex system.
Complete the deployment.
Next steps
In newly deployed systems, perform the post-deployment tasks described in this guide.
In existing systems, map volumes to the new SDCs that you added to the system.
