Install the
PowerFlex Gateway on a Windows-based server. The
PowerFlex Gateway includes the
PowerFlex Installer.
Prerequisites
Before deploying any
PowerFlex components on a server that was part of another
PowerFlex system, use the operating system tools to remove all of those
PowerFlex components.
Ensure that the version of the
PowerFlex Gateway that you are about to install is the same software version as the other
PowerFlex system components that you intend to install.
If LDAP authentication will be used for LIA, the server on which the
PowerFlex Gateway will be installed must be prepared before
PowerFlex Gateway installation. For more information, refer to
Dell PowerFlex User Roles and LDAP Usage Technical Notes.
About this task
Do not install
PowerFlex Gateway on a server that will be used for a
PowerFlex SDC component.
A Windows-based
PowerFlex Installer can be used to deploy
PowerFlex on both Windows and Linux-based servers.
NOTE: When deploying the
PowerFlex Gateway, if one of the following ports is not free, the deployment will fail: 80, 8080, 443, 8443. If this occurs, free the above-mentioned ports and then repeat the deployment procedure.
Steps
From the extracted download file, copy the
PowerFlex Gateway MSI file to the server where it will be installed:
EMC-ScaleIO-gateway-3.6-X.<build>-x64.msi
Run the file, and enter a new
PowerFlex Gateway admin password that will be used to access the
PowerFlex Installer.
The password must meet the following criteria:
At least 8 characters long
Include at least 3 of the following groups: [a-z], [A-Z], [0-9], special chars (!@#$ …)
From the extracted download file, run the
Clean_XC_registry.bat script on every Windows machine to be part of the system.
The script is included in the Complete Windows download package.
Proceed with the remaining preparation tasks, as relevant for your system and installation method. For installation on Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, or SLES servers, pay special attention to the preparation tasks for these operating systems.
NOTE: The
PowerFlex Gateway and the
PowerFlex Installer can now be configured or disabled, as explained in "Configure
PowerFlex Gateway properties".
