Dell PowerFlex 4.6.x Technical Overview

PDF

Software Defined Persistent Memory

Software Defined Persistent Memory (SDPM) is supported as non-volatile memory on Dell PowerEdge servers (R660/R760), storage-only and hyperconverged infrastructure.

The features of SDPM include:

  • Battery backup to provide enough power to store the data in memory.
  • A vault optimized storage solution to write or store the data from acceleration memory to a persistent location.
  • Compression and high-speed memory performance in shared system memory.

Software defined persistent memory (SDPM) support for storage-only and hyperconverged deployments on PowerFlex R660 nodes and PowerFlex R760 nodes

This release supports discovery and deployment of PowerFlex storage only and PowerFlex hyperconverged configurations on PowerFlex R660 nodes and PowerFlex R760 nodes. The software defined persistent memory (SDPM) nodes can be discovered using RedFish API that is integrated with iDRAC. You can use iDRAC to configure the BIOS and allocate SDPM.

On the Resources page for the node, filter by Physical Disks to view the details of the vault optimized storage solution under the PCIe Extender section.
