Removing the System Board

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove the:
    1. left cover

    2. optical drive holder
    3. optical drive

    4. memory shroud base (s)
    5. memory shrouds

    6. heatsink

    7. PCIe card retention

    8. PCIe card (s)

    9. memory module (s)

    10. processor

  3. Disconnect all the connectors from the system board. Figure displaying the disconnection of the system board connectors.
  4. Remove the screws that secure the system board to the chassis. Figure displaying the location of the screws to be removed on the system board.
  5. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Slide the system board towards front direction [1].
    2. Tilt the system board [2].

  6. Lift the system board in an upward direction and remove it from the computer. Figure displaying the removal of the system board from the chassis.
