Removing the display assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
    NOTE:Ensure that your computer is in Service Mode. For more information see, step 6 in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the SD card.
  3. Remove the base cover.
  4. Remove the heatsink for systems shipped with vapor chamber VC heatsink.

Steps

  1. Remove the two (M1.4x4) T5 Torx screws that secure the display FPC cover in place.
  2. Flip open the display FPC cover.
  3. Remove the two (M1.4x4) T5 Torx screws that secure the display FPC cable in place.
  4. Disconnect the display FPC cable from the connector on the system board.
  5. Remove the interposer board from the computer.
    CAUTION:Technicians must remove the interposer board immediately after disconnecting the display FPC to prevent the board from falling out of the computer during subsequent removal procedures. The pins on the interposer board are very fragile. Avoid contact with the pins on the board, instead handle the board by lifting and holding from the edges or the sides.

  6. Remove the eight (M2.5x5) screws that secure the display assembly to the computer.
  7. Slightly lift the bottom assembly and slide it to the left and away from the display assembly. Remove the display assembly from the computer.
    NOTE:The display assembly is a Hinge-Up Design (HUD) assembly and cannot be further disassembled once it is removed from the bottom chassis. If any components in the display assembly are malfunctioning and need to be replaced, replace the entire display assembly.
