Removing the battery

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
    NOTE:Ensure that your computer is in Service Mode. For more information see, step 6 in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the SD card.
  3. Remove the base cover.
NOTE: If battery was disconnected from system board for service, there will be a delay during system boot-up as the system will undergo RTC battery reset.

Steps

  1. Remove the six (M2x4) screws that secure the battery to the plam-rest assembly.
  2. Lift the battery away from the computer.
  3. Peel off the battery FPC cable from the battery.
  4. Disconnect and remove the battery FPC cable from the connector on the battery.
    NOTE:Pull the pull tab vertically to disconnect the battery FPC cable.
    NOTE:When system battery is disconnected or completely discharged, the system date and time will be reset. When the system is power on under this condition, it will take slightly more time before the Dell logo is displayed, followed by the Time-of-day not set message. Select BIOS-Setup in the caution screen to configure the date and time.
