Installing the M.2 2280 solid-state drive

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

About this task

CAUTION:The information in this installation section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

The following image indicates the location of the solid-state drive and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.

NOTE:The following procedure is applicable for models shipped with an M.2 2280 solid-state drive in the SSD1 and/or SSD2 slot.

Installing the solid-state drive

Steps

  1. Align the notch on the solid-state drive with the tab on the M.2 card connector.
  2. Slide the M.2 2280 solid-state drive into the M.2 card connector on the system board.
  3. Align and place the solid-state drive thermal plate in place.
  4. Replace the single (M2x2) screw to secure the solid-state drive thermal plate to the system board.
