To use an Active Directory domain account that has its primary group set as the Domain Admins group:

  2. Double-click the requested volume. A list of all CIFS shares for this NAS volume is displayed.
  3. Right-click the desired CIFS share (folder) and select Properties.
  4. Select the Security tab and then click Advanced.
  5. Select the Owner tab and then select the Edit tab.
  6. Click the Other users or groups… button and choose the domain admin user account that is used to set ACLs for this share or choose the Domain Admins group.
  7. Ensure that Replace owner on subcontainers and objects is checked and click Apply.
  8. Click Ok and return to the Advanced Security Settings window.
You can select the Permissions tab and follow Microsoft best practices to assign ACL permissions to the CIFS share folder.
  • NOTE: If you have both CIFS shares and NFS shares defined on the same NAS volume, you can see both the NFS and CIFS shares contained within the volume(s). Ensure that you select only the required CIFS share.
