Synchronous replication for file

The following applies for file replication:

  • The protection policy is assigned to the NAS server and by default all file systems on a protected NAS server are synchronized from the source to destination system.
  • You can select to add file systems or delete file systems from the NAS server even when it is a part of a replication session.
  • When a synchronous replication session is created, a NAS server and empty file systems are created on the destination system. The file server configuration and a read-only protection policy are also replicated.
  • The NAS server on the destination system is configured without enabled IP configuration, and all file systems are available without enabled shares
  • When a replication session is created, the file systems are replicated to the destination. Subsequent changes are replicated to the destination when they occur.
  • For synchronous replication, increasing the size of a file system that is under replication requires pausing the replication session first. Reducing the size of a file system does not require pausing the replication session.
  • For synchronous replication, it is not possible to change the network latency of the replication system pair to a higher value than five milliseconds when synchronous replication sessions are defined.
  • Switching between synchronous and asynchronous replication is not supported for file replication.
