PowerStore supports configuring dedicated or shared ports for host connectivity and replication.
When you create a storage network, you can set the network purpose on the
Network Details step of the
Create Storage Network
wizard (Settings > Networking > Network IPs > Storage > Create).
NOTE:You can select any or all of the available purposes:
Storage (iSCSI)
Storage (NVMe/TCP)
Replication
To enable replication between two
PowerStore systems, select the
Replication option. To enable backup to PowerProtect, select the
Replication and
Storage (iSCSI) options. For more information, see Dell Knowledge Base Article 000224658.
NOTE:Once the storage network purpose is set it cannot be modified. The only way to change is by unampping the Storage Group from the network ports (Hardware > Appliances > [appliance] > Ports > More Actions > Remove Mapping, and then re-creating the storage network.
When the storage network is selected for a port mapping (in the
Mapping for Appliance step of the
Create Storage Network
wizard), the purpose is displayed in the Port Assigned Purposes column.
When configuration is complete, the storage network is added to the Available Networks table, and the purpose is displayed under the Purposes column.
To view the mapped storage networks of a port and their purposes, select
Hardware > Appliances > [appliance] > Ports. Selecting the number that is displayed in the Network Mapped column for the relevant port displays a list of the networks that are mapped to the port.
