Updating
PowerFlex Manager and components
Update the
PowerFlex Manager virtual appliance before you update a component. After you update the virtual appliance, a notification banner might display at the top of the
Services page. The banner alerts you that a service is in a critical state.
To get the service into a healthy state, you must update the components if
PowerFlex Manager added new required fields to any of the components.
Use the
PowerFlex Manager version applicable to the RCM. If you must upgrade the
PowerFlex Manager virtual appliance to the supported latest version,
PowerFlex Manager has an integrated mechanism for upgrading the
PowerFlex Manager virtual appliance from an older version to the latest version.
To facilitate upgrades,
PowerFlex Manager steers you toward valid upgrade paths. When you attempt an upgrade,
PowerFlex Manager warns you if the current version of the software is incompatible with the target version of ir any of the RCM versions are incompatible with the target compliance versions.
PowerFlex Manager uses information provided in a compatibility matrix file to determine which paths are valid. This file maps all known valid and invalid paths for all previous releases of the software. Upload the latest version of the compatibility matrix file to ensure that
PowerFlex Manager has access to the latest upgrade information.
See the
Dell EMC PowerFlex Rack Upgrade Guide for information about updating the
