Service actions

You can perform various actions to a service that is deployed.

The following table describes the specific tasks that you can perform from the Service Actions section on the Service Details page.

Click... To...
Retry Redeploy a failed or canceled service. This button is visible only when a service is in a critical state.
Update Service Details Update service definition.
Remove Service

Remove a service that is no longer required. PowerFlex Manager supports two types of removal:

  • Delete Service: Deletes the deployment information and makes any required configuration changes for components that are associated with the service. The configuration changes include making destructive changes such as unconfiguring the nodes in the service and powering them down.
  • Remove Service: Removes deployment information but does not make any configuration changes to the deployed components.
Cancel Cancel the service.
View All Settings View the settings configured on the resources in a service for deployment.

For a PowerFlex service, the VMware Cluster section of the Settings page shows the PowerFlex Settings section, and the Target PowerFlex Gateway should specify the gateway that is included with the service.

For a PowerFlex service, the Use Local Storage For Dell EMC PowerFlex property is set to true within the OS Settings section for any node included. This property is set to true for the nodes in an existing PowerFlex service deployment, and for the nodes in a new PowerFlex service deployment.

Generate troubleshooting bundle Generate a compressed file of logs to use for troubleshooting. The following logs are included:
  • PowerFlex Manager application
  • Alert connector
  • PowerFlex Gateway
  • iDRAC life cycle
  • Dell EMC Powerswitch switch
  • Cisco Nexus switch
  • VMware ESXi
  • CloudLink Center
Enter Service Mode Put nodes in service mode so that maintenance operations can be performed.
Exit Service Mode Take nodes out of service mode.
View Compliance Report View the software or firmware compliance report.
Reconfigure MDM Roles

Change the MDM role for a node in a PowerFlex cluster. For example, if you add a node to the cluster, you might want to switch the MDM role from another node to the new node.
