You can remove a service that is no longer required.
About this task
PowerFlex Manager supports the removal of an entire service or the removal of the deployment information from a service.
Option
Description
Delete service
Deletes deployment information and makes configuration changes to the components associated with the service to unconfigure those components. It returns the components to the available inventory. Before a rebuild, ensure that residual components, for example a data center in VMware vCentre, are removed by doing a manual cleanup.
Remove service
Removes deployment information without making any configuration changes to the deployed components. It returns the components to the available inventory. Use the remove service option if you want to change all the IP addresses or if new networks were added outside of
PowerFlex Manager. The service is not removed permanently and can be added back as an existing service to
PowerFlex Manager.
If DAS Cache is installed on a node, or the node has a VMware NSX-T or NSX-V configuration, you can remove the deployment information for a service. However, the service is not deleted. If the
PowerFlex Gateway used in a service is being updated on the
Resources page,
PowerFlex Manager does not allow you to delete the service.
Standard users can delete only the services that they have deployed.
Steps
On the menu bar, click
Services.
On the
Services page, click the service, and in the right pane, click
View Details.
On the
Service Details page, in the right pane, under
Service Actions, click
Remove Service.
In the
Remove Service dialog box, select the
Service removal type.
If you choose
Delete Service, perform the following steps:
Select
Delete Clusters(s) and Remove from vCenter to delete and remove the clusters from vCenter.
Select
Remove Protection Domain and Storage Pools from PowerFlex to remove the protection domain and storage pools that are created during the service deployment.
If you select this option, you must select the target
PowerFlex Gateway. The
PowerFlex Gateway is not removed.
PowerFlex Manager removes only the protection domain and storage pools that are part of the service. If multiple services are sharing a protection domain, you might not want to delete the protection domain.
For a compression enabled service,
PowerFlex Manager deletes the acceleration pool and the DAX devices when you delete the service.
Select
Delete Machine Group and remove from CloudLink Center to clean up the related components in CloudLink Center.
CloudLink Center cleanup includes the deletion of the machine group, keystore, and approved network related to the service being deleted. These components are removed from CloudLink Center only if all the machines that are associated to the machine group are deleted first. If all the machines that are related to this machine group are not removed, the cleanup does not succeed as there are machines associated with the machine group.
If you are certain that you want to proceed, type
DELETE SERVICE.
Click
Delete.
If you choose
Remove Service, perform the following steps:
To keep the nodes in the inventory, select
Leave nodes in PowerFlex Manager inventory and set state to and select the state of managed, unmanaged, or reserved.
To remove the nodes, select
Remove nodes from the PowerFlex Manager inventory.
Click
Remove.
