Edit service information

You can edit information about a service such as the service name, description, and who has access to the service information.

Steps

  1. On the menu bar, click Services.
  2. On the Services page, click the service, and in the right pane of the Service Details page, click View Details.
  3. On the Service Details page, in the right pane click Edit.
  4. In the Edit Service Information dialog box, modify the Service Name and Service Description that identifies the service.
    • To update the firmware and software running on the nodes when you deploy a service that uses this template, select Firmware and Software Compliance.

If you select a minimal compliance version for a service, PowerFlex Manager puts the service in lifecycle mode and restricts the actions that can be performed. In lifecycle mode, the service supports monitoring, service mode, and compliance upgrade operations only. All other service operations are blocked.

NOTE:Changing the firmware repository might update the firmware level on nodes for this service. The global default firmware repository maintains firmware on shared devices.
  5. Set the OS Image for the service.

You can optionally select a custom operating system image that will be used for future add node operations on the service. The custom image must be added to the OS Image Repositories tab on the Settings > Compliance and OS Repositories page.

PowerFlex Manager filters the list of images available for selection to include only those images that are suitable for the current service. For example, if you are editing a hyperconverged service, PowerFlex Manager only allows you to choose ESXi images.

  6. Specify the permissions for this service under Who should have access to the service deployed from this template? by performing one of the following actions:
    • To restrict access to administrators, select the Only PowerFlex Manager Administrators option.
    • To grant access to administrators and specific standard and operator users, select the PowerFlex Manager Administrators and Specific Standard and Operator Users option, and perform the following tasks:
      1. Click Add User(s) to add one more standard or operator users to the list.
      2. Select which users will have access to this service.
      3. To delete the standard and or operator user from the list, select the user and click Remove User(s).
      4. After adding the standard and or operator users, select or clear the check box next to the standard or operator users to grant or block access to use this template.
    • To grant access to administrators and all standard and operator users, select the PowerFlex Manager Administrators and All Standard and Operator Users option.
  7. Click Save.
